Weather you can verify, not just trust.

Meteric fuses real-time official SHMÚ station readings with Slovakia's own ALADIN and A-LAEF forecast models, ECMWF, and Open-Meteo's worldwide coverage, then tells you, on every single value, exactly which one you're looking at.

Why Meteric

Built on real data, not a black box

Most weather apps show you one number and hope it's close enough. Meteric shows its work so you always know whether you're looking at a live measurement or a forecast.

Live station data

Slovakia's official SHMÚ automated weather stations, refreshed every few minutes - temperature, wind, gusts, humidity and more, as they're measured.

Slovak-tuned models

ALADIN and A-LAEF short-range forecasts built specifically for Slovakia's terrain, plus ECMWF for longer-range outlooks.

Worldwide coverage

Travel outside Slovakia and Meteric switches to Open-Meteo automatically, so you're never left without a forecast.

Every value, labeled

A small source tag on every metric tells you if it's an observation, a Slovak model, or Open-Meteo - no guessing, ever.

Coverage

What you get, wherever you are

Meteric draws from different sources depending on where you are - official national data in Slovakia, European services across the continent, and global models everywhere else. Here's exactly what's available in each region.

Features

Everything you'd want from a weather app - and the parts most leave out

Forecast Charts

Forecasts that show their own uncertainty

Hourly and daily charts don't just plot a single line - they show the realistic spread around it, so you can see when the forecast is confident and when it isn't.

  • Short-term (ALADIN/A-LAEF) and long-term (ECMWF) models for Slovakia
  • Worldwide forecast via Open-Meteo everywhere else
  • Temperature, precipitation, wind, pressure, humidity and more, hour by hour
  • Ensemble uncertainty bands built into the forecast charts

Radar Lightning

Radar the way meteorologists actually read it

Four radar products, an animated timeline, and a lightning overlay - all rendered directly on the map around you, not a static image borrowed from a website.

  • Max reflectivity, CAPPI, 1-hour rainfall and echo top
  • Smooth animated playback of recent frames
  • Optional lightning strike overlay
  • Also available as a configurable home screen widget

MetericCast Beta

Rain, minutes before it starts

SHMÚ's radar refreshes every 5 minutes - MetericCast extrapolates its motion to estimate precisely when precipitation will reach you, often minutes before an hourly forecast could tell you anything at all. And when the app is in the background, a companion server keeps the Live Activity fresh and ends it when the rain stops - so you always know, even without opening the app.

  • Up to 60 minutes ahead, from the motion of live radar frames
  • Takes over "Next precipitation" whenever it's more precise than the hourly model
  • A Live Activity on your Lock Screen when rain is about to start - kept up to date even while the app is suspended
  • Entirely optional - toggle it off anytime in Settings

Warnings Map

Never get caught off guard

Official SHMÚ warnings for Slovakia, and MeteoAlarm coverage for the rest of Europe - shown as a clear district-by-district map, not just a wall of text.

  • Colour-coded severity, down to the district level
  • A gentle toast on the Now screen when something's active nearby
  • Automatic MeteoAlarm coverage when you're travelling abroad

Air Quality

Air quality that actually explains itself

Not just a number - Meteric breaks down each pollutant in plain language and explains what scale you're looking at, on its own terms.

  • SHMÚ's official index in Slovakia, European AQI elsewhere
  • Per-pollutant breakdown: PM2.5, PM10, NO₂, O₃, SO₂ and more
  • Built-in explanations for what each pollutant means for you

FAQ

Good to know

Where does Meteric get its data?

Slovakia's official SHMÚ observation network and forecast models (ALADIN, A-LAEF, ECMWF), plus Open-Meteo for worldwide coverage and to fill in anything SHMÚ doesn't provide. Every value on screen is labeled with its exact source.

Does it work outside Slovakia?

Yes, anywhere in the world, Meteric automatically switches to Open-Meteo's global forecast so you're never without a reliable outlook.

What is MetericCast?

A short-horizon (up to 60 min) precipitation estimate Meteric computes from the motion of recent radar frames, not a value from SHMÚ or Open-Meteo. It runs on your device when you're in the app, and on a companion server when you're not, so the Live Activity on your Lock Screen stays accurate and ends when the rain stops even while the app is in the background. It can also show up on the radar map and take over the "Next precipitation" card. It's new (beta) and can be turned off anytime in Settings.

Is there an Apple Watch app?

Yes, a full companion app with current conditions, forecast, radar and complications for your watch face.

Is it on the App Store?

Yes, Meteric is available now on the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch. If you'd like early access to upcoming features, you can also join the TestFlight beta below.
