Terms of Use
Last updated: 8 September 2026
These terms apply to the Meteric app for iPhone and Apple Watch, to the optional Meteric Premium subscription, and to this website. They are written in plain language on purpose - if anything here is unclear, ask and we'll explain it.
Who you're dealing with
Meteric is made and operated by Jakub Bajzath, an individual developer based in Slovakia. Contact: bajzath.jakub@gmail.com. In these terms "we" and "us" mean Jakub Bajzath, and "you" means the person using the app.
Your agreement, and Apple's
By downloading or using Meteric you accept these terms. Meteric is distributed through Apple's App Store, so Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "standard EULA") also applies to your licence to use the app, and is incorporated into these terms by reference.
Where the standard EULA and these terms genuinely conflict, the standard EULA wins on licence questions (what you may do with the app itself), and these terms govern everything specific to Meteric - the subscription, the weather data, and the MetericCast server. Nothing in either document removes rights you have as a consumer under Slovak or EU law.
What Meteric is - and what it isn't
Meteric displays weather information from third-party sources: Slovakia's SHMÚ, Czechia's ČHMÚ, Open-Meteo, EUMETNET OPERA, EUMETSAT, NOAA / National Weather Service, MeteoAlarm, CAMS and Windy. We present that data as clearly and honestly as we can, but we do not produce it and we cannot guarantee it.
Meteric is an information tool, not an official warning service. Forecasts are predictions and are sometimes wrong. Radar and satellite imagery can be delayed, incomplete or missing. Official weather warnings are issued by national meteorological services - in Slovakia by SHMÚ, and elsewhere by the MeteoAlarm member services - and those services, not Meteric, are the authoritative source. If a warning matters to you, check it with the issuing service.
MetericCast, our own short-range radar nowcast, deserves its own sentence: it extrapolates the recent motion of radar echoes forward by roughly an hour. It is a projection, not an observation, and it will sometimes say rain when there is none, or miss rain that arrives.
Do not rely on Meteric for decisions where being wrong could hurt someone or cause damage - aviation, maritime or mountain safety, construction, agriculture, emergency response, or anything similar. For those, use official sources and professional services.
Meteric Premium
Meteric is free to use, with a free tier that keeps the things a weather app has to be useful for: current conditions, a three-day forecast, the warning list for your location, and the plain reflectivity radar view. Meteric Premium unlocks the rest.
Premium is offered as three options, shown in the app with the exact price in your local currency before you buy:
- Monthly - an auto-renewing subscription, billed every month
- Yearly - an auto-renewing subscription, billed every year
- Lifetime - a one-time purchase, with no renewal and no further charges
Prices vary by country and can change over time. The price shown in the app at the moment you buy is the price that applies; for auto-renewing subscriptions, Apple will tell you before a price increase takes effect and ask for your consent where required.
Feature availability by region
Some Premium features depend on data that only exists for certain areas, and this is stated on every row of the purchase screen rather than hidden in the small print. In short: features built on Open-Meteo or Windy work worldwide; the European radar composite, the lightning overlay and the warning map work across Europe and its MeteoAlarm member countries; MetericCast works in Slovakia and Czechia, each on its own national radar; the SHMÚ-specific radar products are Slovak, the ČHMÚ ones Czech, and NEXRAD radar with National Weather Service alerts covers the United States.
Buying Premium outside those areas still unlocks everything that works where you are, but it cannot create data that does not exist for your location. Please read the scope labels on the purchase screen before subscribing.
Billing, renewal and cancellation
All purchases are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see or handle your payment details.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. An auto-renewing subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends; the renewal is charged within 24 hours of the period ending.
You can view, manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device, or from the subscription screen inside Meteric. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for, and you keep Premium until that period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds and your right to withdraw
Because Apple is the merchant of record, refunds are handled by Apple and governed by Apple's policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, but if something in Meteric is broken or was not as described, please contact us - we will happily support your request to Apple and fix the problem.
If you are a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance purchase. For digital content delivered immediately, that right may end once delivery begins and you have acknowledged it, which is what happens when a purchase unlocks Premium straight away. This does not affect your statutory rights where the product is faulty or not as described.
Restoring a purchase
Premium is tied to your Apple Account, not to a device. Use "Restore" on the subscription screen to recover it after reinstalling or on a new device. Purchases are not shared between different Apple Accounts, and Family Sharing is not enabled for these products.
Changes to the app and its features
Meteric depends on third-party data providers. Any of them can change a feed, restrict access, or shut it down, and when that happens the affected feature may change or disappear through no fault of ours. We also add, improve and occasionally retire features as the app develops.
If a Premium feature is permanently withdrawn and that materially reduces what you paid for, contact us - we will look at it fairly, which may include supporting a refund request for a subscription period you cannot use. We will not remove a large part of Premium without saying so in the release notes.
Using Meteric fairly
Please don't: reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the app beyond what applicable law permits; use it to build a competing service; scrape or overload the MetericCast server or the upstream providers; circumvent the subscription; or use the app unlawfully. The MetericCast server exists to serve the app on ordinary devices, and automated or abusive traffic may be rate-limited or blocked.
Intellectual property and attribution
Meteric - its code, design, name and logo - belongs to us. Weather data, imagery and warnings belong to their respective providers (SHMÚ, ČHMÚ, EUMETNET OPERA, EUMETSAT, NOAA / National Weather Service, Open-Meteo, MeteoAlarm, CAMS, Windy) and are used under their terms, with attribution shown in the app. Your Premium purchase buys access to features in Meteric; it does not grant you rights in the underlying data.
Liability
Meteric is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for losses arising from decisions made on the basis of weather information in the app, from data that was inaccurate, delayed or unavailable, or from the app being unavailable.
Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded - including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your mandatory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights apply in full regardless of anything in these terms.
Privacy
How Meteric handles data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Ending these terms
You can stop using Meteric at any time by deleting it (remember to cancel an active subscription separately, as above). We may suspend access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached - for example, deliberate abuse of the MetericCast server. If that happens to you and you think it's a mistake, get in touch.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Material changes affecting an active subscription will be announced in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Meteric after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Slovak law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
If we can't sort a complaint out directly, EU consumers can use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform. Slovak consumers may also contact the Slovak Trade Inspection (Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia) as the supervisory authority for alternative dispute resolution.
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Meteric.
